- Winter Camp
- Why Give?
Camp Mogul On The Road is offered for one week and introduces 7th-9th graders to why Atlanta is such a hot spot for businesses today. We’ll take a deep dive into Atlanta businesses, the Jewish community, and how they’ve grown as a direct result of each other. This week is a great foundation to the Summer Entrepreneur Academy or is a wonderful, immersive experience on its own.
Every day, campers will meet in the morning to discuss the history and businesses of Jewish Atlanta and what to expect from the day ahead. Then, we’ll hit the rails (avoiding traffic!) with a Marta Pass and learn first-hand how to navigate around Atlanta. We’ll visit places along the Marta route to better understand the importance of business locations and how they’re relevant to public transportation. Along the way we’ll stop at places like*:
At the end of each day, we’ll all head back to Morningside Elementary to debrief and discuss what’s ahead for the next day. View dates and rates.
*Sites are subject to change before the start of camp.
Camp Mogul Summer Entrepreneur Academy is offered for three weeks (campers may choose one of the three) and is created to unlock the potential of Jewish tweens (rising 7th-9th graders) by sparking a passion for entrepreneurship. Our campers experience the excitement and challenge of bringing a real, profitable business to fruition in just five short days! Along the way, we’ll help them build skill-sets to launch their venture, present an idea, understand current events, and consider how business might play into their future — all under the overarching umbrella of Judaism.
To accomplish this, entrepreneurs will:
The week-long program culminates with a Shark Tank-style presentation to investors for a cash prize. Give us a week, and we’ll give back so much more! View dates and rates. FREE TRANSPORTATION AVAILABLE!
This program is funded in part by a JumpSpark grant.
The youth of today are the world of tomorrow, so taking the time to understand how they will be prepared for the future is so important. That’s why you may be curious about what a week of growth and inspiration looks like at the Camp Mogul Summer Entrepreneur Academy:
Monday (Curiosity / תונרקתסה / Histakranut): Entrepreneurs meet their teams, agree on a business idea, conduct market research, create a first budget draft, and make a shopping list.
Tuesday (Creativity / הריצי / Yetzira!): Teams get creative! They create a brand for their business, including a logo, social media posts, sales commercial, flyer, and more.
Wednesday (Perseverance and Grit / חצנ / Netzach): During this exciting day, teams create a presentation and pitch their ideas for seed funds from a Rockstar panel of investors.
Thursday (Calm and Composure / שפנה תחונמ / Menuchat Ha’Nefesh): It’s go time! Teams launch their products and sell them on-site at camp.
Friday (Gratitude / תרכה בוטה / Hacarat ha’Tov): Today we celebrate accomplishments from the week. Entrepreneurs also create a mobile app, participate in a stock market simulation, and more!
Cultivate your tween’s growth and
build upon their Jewish foundation with Camp Mogul!
WHO RUNS THE PROGRAMS?
A Program Director with several years of post-college experience, in addition to exceptional college students (mostly Business majors), will lead the group. Together, they will go through the process of launching their new businesses. Your tween will be working with qualified business professionals and students providing valuable insight and experience to Camp Mogul.
CAN MY CHILD SELECT TEAMMATES?
Yes! We love to see friends participating together. Please indicate the friend’s name on the registration form. Groups of three or four generally work as a close team; however, groups of two friends should expect more entrepreneurs in their group. We try to keep teams close in age so we can tailor the curriculum and experience. Please understand that if siblings or friends are more than two years apart, we may place them on separate teams. This is only to provide and ensure they gain the education and experience valuable to their age range.
CAN MY SON/DAUGHTER WORK ON A BUSINESS IDEA THAT THEY HAVE BEEN PURSUING AT HOME?
We anticipate all of our participants will be creative, ambitious, and some will even be so gifted that they will have their own business ideas already in the works. That is wonderful! However, we also ask that each entrepreneur comes to camp with an open mind. The entire team of three or four students must be in enthusiastic agreement about the business idea. However, students regularly take the skills learned at camp and apply them to grow their own business. If they have an idea they’d like to explore more, we encourage you to check out our partners, Break Into Business, who offer additional opportunities for young entrepreneurs including their Final Pitch event and Start Up Club.
MY SON/DAUGHTER REQUIRES SPECIAL ASSISTANCE AND/OR DISCIPLINARY INTERVENTION IN A REGULAR CLASSROOM – IS CAMP MOGUL A GOOD FIT?
Unfortunately, we’re not yet equipped to support significant special accommodations at Camp Mogul. Although our staff to student ratios are extremely low, campers are asked to accomplish a lot in one week. If your student has an IEP, or you have concerns about their ability to participate, we strongly suggest reaching out to us prior to registration.
Disciplinary problems will be handled in a “three-strikes” manner (parents are notified for each strike). Students are asked to leave the program without a tuition refund after strike three. We appreciate your communication and understanding in these rare cases. We strive to create an atmosphere that is healthy, encouraging, and enjoyable for all of our campers!
