You told us and we listened!

We reviewed every survey response, spoke with parents and staff members, and identified our own ideas for how to make summer 2017 our best summer yet. Here’s what you can expect at BOTH camp locations:

NEW Jewish and Israeli cooking curriculum and professional cooking staff –  We’re talking kugel, hamentashen, challah, bourekas, bagels, rugelah, and of course hummus and Israeli salad! Plus, campers will learn the history of these foods and how they are connected with Jewish culture. We’ll supplement these recipes with healthy dishes and teach campers about Jewish ties to farming!

NEW activities including archery, low ropes, group problem-solving activities, a tinkering lab and more will be added to the list of In the City Camp favorites like art, basketball, creek hikes, magic, science, hockey, cooking, dance, and yoga!

NEW canteen structure – Smaller portions, additional healthy options, fewer purchasing opportunities. We’re on it!

NEW Friday after care – After camp care is now available Monday-Friday 4:00pm-6:00pm at both locations.

NEW Counselor-In-Training (CIT) leadership program for rising 10th graders. Available at both locations June 5 – August 4.

Here’s what’s NOT changing

Our commitment to hiring the best Jewish role model counselors. Plain and simple. We understand the impact a positive Jewish role model has on a young Jewish camper. Your kids will adore these impressive young adults.

Our commitment to camper activity choice. Campers who choose the way they spend their days are happy campers. Happy campers make friends, try new things, laugh, learn, grow, and can’t wait to come back each day for more.

Our Jewishly diverse camper and staff makeup. It’s one of the things that makes In the City Camp so special. Some of our campers have never done anything Jewish before. 28% do not belong to a synagogue. Others celebrate the holidays, go to Jewish day school, or attend Sunday school. Some have one Jewish parent and one non-Jewish parent. Some have 2 mommies or 2 daddies. We welcome all of them!

Read about the grant we received to fund our ongoing efforts to make In the City Camp the most inclusive, welcoming, diverse community it can be.

Our awesome weekly field trips! Kid Campers will enjoy a day trip every Wednesday while Tweens get a taste of sleep-away camp during their weekly overnight travels. Many of the destinations for both groups are new and you’ll find out where your camper is going the Friday before each week begins.

Our commitment to keeping camp affordable. We encourage you to apply for scholarship now or contact us to discuss how we can make camp affordable for your family.

The result

An impactful summer experience only In the City Camp can deliver. Personal growth, new and strengthened Jewish friendships, and a love for Israel – all the benefits of overnight camp in a day camp package.

Don’t take our word for it, read what our camper parents are saying.
