Growing up, counting down the days to the start of summer camp every year, sparked what would later become Carolyn’s passion and career.
Following graduation from Tulane University with a major in Early Child Psychology and Education, Carolyn joined Camp Inc. in Boulder as a Business Specialist and Chief Fun Officer. Her time there was spent guiding middle school campers through the start-up business process culminating in a final pitch presentation in front of an audience of 100+.
After spending a year teaching second grade in New Orleans, Carolyn realized her true passion was working with children in a camp setting. So she accepted a job with the New Orleans Jewish Community Center where she most recently held the title, Director of Youth and Camping. Her time as Director was spent managing 125 staff members and volunteers, building relationships with local families and organizations, and of course, working with children.
Carolyn joined the In the City Camps (ITC) team in March 2019. She knows the deep inner-workings of camp from a high-level, hands-on perspective. Carolyn plans, coordinates, and oversees ITC’s overall camp program and activities. She is responsible for hiring, training, and managing seasonal camp staff. Throughout the year, Carolyn oversees purchasing, operational budgets, staff and camper recruitment, programming and events, and social media.
Carolyn lives in Atlanta with her husband, Alex, and dog, Daphne. She loves trying new restaurants and enjoys the Atlanta foodie scene.
